Kids Come First was established in 1995. We are licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education. All programs are geared towards preparing children for Kindergarten. All classes have an enrollment of ten (10) children. The curriculums are based on the Maryland State Department of Education Pre-K guidelines along with the Maryland Model for School Readiness. Licensed and approved as a Non-public nursery school by Maryland State Department of Education.

3 Year Classes:
The goals of the 3's classes are as follows: To help the child develop a positive attitude toward self and school; to promote effective communication and speaking skills; to develop good listening skills; to provide a variety of Math concepts; to develop the child's awareness of his/her world; to develop fine motor skills (cutting, coloring, pre-writing). All of the above skills are taught through a relaxed environment of experiences in language, music, movement, art, science and social interaction.

4 Year Classes:
The goals of the 4's classes are as follows:  To help the child develop a positive attitude about self and school; to develop reading readiness (alphabet recognition, phonemic awareness, rhyming, opposites, recalling details of a story); to provide a variety of math concepts (patterning, number recognition, 1:1 correspondence); to develop good writing skills using Handwriting Without Tears and other methods. This is just a sampling of the skills taught through creative and engaging activities.

5 Year Classes:
The 5's classes begin with the basics that were taught in the 4's classes. After the class has met these objectives they will move forward to the following goals:  Social development (self-confidence, staying on task, following directions); Language Development (alphabet recognition of upper and lower cases, letter sounds, rhyming patterns, beginning reading); Math (two-part patterning, writing numbers, understanding positional words); Social Studies (knowing address and phone number); Handwriting (able to write a variety of letters and cut out items with ease). This is just a sampling of activities taught through creative and engaging activities.
